We are a tech start-up with major focus on inspiring and developing upcoming innovative technology ideas through networking, technical training and support and professional mentoring and coaching.

We bring together techpreneurs, entrepreneurs, developers, designers, investors and donors and provide them an opportunity to share knowledge, learn, find mentors and expound on tech ideas that will lead to the development of new technologies in Kenya and globally at large.

1. What is a tech start-up?

A tech start-up is a company or organisation designed to inspire, support and develop upcoming tech ideas with the ultimate goal of growing fast.

2. What is Mombasa Tech Community all about?

Mombasa Tech community is a diverse group of people from different fields in IT and Business with an objective of learning and sharing experiences, finding mentors, building your professional network to further your idea and also get partners for your business and generally collaborate.

3. Where are you located?

As at yet, Mombasa Tech Community does not own a physical space, they collaborate and work with other tech hubs and IT Centers at the Coast such as CAMARA and Mewa Computer Training Center and also Universities such as the Jomo kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

4. What do I need to have to become a member of the community?

All you need to have is just the passion for Information Technology.

Ahmed Maawy has years of experience in Software, Web and Mobile consultancy, having done Software Engineering during the early years for some major market players. Also have had experience with setting business strategy in regards to technology.

Ahmed holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Technology. He has worked as a senior software & Web developer at Jafftek Computer Solutions, as a Database Administrator at Ashton Apparel (EPZ) - Atraco Kenya Branch, as a lead developer at Pwanitech, as a Web developer at 3Mice Interactive Media, as a software development Manager at DataDyne, software Engineer at Ushahidi, Mobile Media lead Engineer at Internews Europe and is currently the Software Developer at Abayima.

His Specialities include Tech and Business strategy.

MURAD SWALEH

Web designer & Developer at Yango Web | Co-founder Crablinks Limited

Having studied at Kampala International University, Murad holds a Degree in Computer Science. As a passionate Website Developer, He has a vast experience in tours / safaris websites, bus company websites, consultancy and real estate / property websites. His specialities include Web Design, Logo Design, Graphic Design, SEO, Networking & Content Managment Systems (joomla! & Drupal)

He has worked as a Systems Administrator at Kampala Coach Limited before joining Jafftek Computer Solutions and is also the co-founder of Crab Links Limited, a web development company in Mombasa.

He believes building someone's career is giving out a gift of life that no one can take away from.

When he is not designing websites, you will find Murad playing with his two lovely kids or watching a movie with his lovely wife.

AISHA M.A MOHDHAR

Business Systems Analyst | Managing Director DFort Solutions | Market Researcher

As a business intelligence expert Aisha analyses organisations to not only adapt but thrive through the ubiquitous technical landscape. Her start-up career in software developing and later High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster took her to champion development in the competitive hard selling Asian peninsula.

Combining her expertise in research & publication and e-commerce, Aisha produces and presents radio shows on technical innovations, trains, lectures for universities, private corporations, government and national government organizations (NGOs) on start-ups and adaptation of computing.

Having worked with Companies such as Techbiz Limited and Jafftek Computer Solutions, he has been able to gain a lot of experience in the Information Technology Industry, both in the Hardware and Software fields. He is an undergraduate persuing Business Information Technology at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology,Mombasa.

He is deeply interested in technology and how technology can be used to help the society and the entire world at large.

ALIFIYAH GANIJEE

Software & Web Developer | Lead Mombasa GDG | Mozilla Representative

Alifiyah Ganijee is an influential software developer undertaking a Degree in Business Information Technology at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Mombasa. She develops for both web and mobile applications. She has worked with companies such as Techbiz Limited and Jafftek Computer Solutions which have served her a stepping stone into the IT Industry.
