An event organized by Mozilla Mombasa
Firefox Flicks 2013 Mombasa held on 17th June 2013 courtesy of Mozilla
The Firefox Flicks event, a global video contest, kicked off 3.00 pm at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology, out of the 20 people expected who registered for the event, 17 were present in time and very eager to know more about the event.
The event began with an introduction session by Alifiyah Ganijee, who talked about the GeeksPhone Keon and passed it on to the participants to have a look at it, she then started of the event with an overview on Firefox Flicks 2013 highlighting what the Flicks is all about, the deadlines, judges this year, how to submit a flick and the prizes to be won.
Thereafter, we had a small question and answer session after which we demoed some videos for inspiration, we presented 11 videos that had been previously submitted for the challenge. That was quite an interesting, fun-filled and an eye-opener session to many.
After that, Musa Alfan presented his demo video and also talked about how he came up with the idea, the resources he needed for his flick and the tools he used to create it not forgetting the limited time he spent on working on that Flick. Thumbs up Musa! Andrew Mwangi then presented another Flicks idea that some members of the community are currently working on.
Said Fuad then talked about the various tools that one can use to create a flick and also shared an idea with the members and asked them to take it up and create something out of it. He also talked about the Firefox Flicks main website where people can download the assets to use. We hope someone is doing it at the moment :)
Attendants then asked questions and lastly we gave out the awesome T-shirts courtesy of Mozilla and had photo session.
It was a short but yet interesting event and we are rest assured that we will have at least 3 entries in to the Flicks Challenge this year
